Cause for Paws – A Movement for Stray Animal Safety An initiative by Kith and Kinn Foundation
Cause for Paws was born out of a deep concern for the growing number of stray animals, particularly dogs, suffering on our roads. What started as a humble effort to feed and care for these vulnerable beings has now evolved into a nationwide movement focused on their safety, dignity, and well-being.
Our mission is clear to reduce the alarming rate of stray dog fatalities caused by road accidents, especially on highways. Every year, an estimated 62% of stray dog deaths in India are due to road accidents. This heartbreaking statistic inspired us to take meaningful action.
The initiative began in Mumbai, targeting the city’s major highways where stray dogs are most at risk. Our approach is simple yet impactful we equip these animals with reflective collar belts that shine in the dark, making them visible to oncoming vehicles and drastically reducing the risk of nighttime collisions. These belts not only protect the dogs but also create safer roads for everyone.
Our long-term vision is to expand this effort across the country, covering more major highways and urban roads. By spreading awareness, encouraging volunteer participation, and building partnerships with local authorities and animal lovers, we aim to bring sustainable change in how society views and protects stray animals.
Cause for Paws is not just about safety; it’s about compassion, responsibility, and co-existence. Every collar belt we fasten is a step toward a more humane and conscious society one that refuses to ignore the silent suffering of animals and instead chooses to protect and uplift them.
Together, with your support, we can reduce the statistics and increase the chances of life one paw at a time.
